Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can attend STARBASE Maxwell 25-hour STEM program during the academic school year?

    • We serve fifth (5th) grade students in Autauga County Schools, Montgomery Public Schools, Elmore County School District, and Pike Road Schools and surrounding areas. Our curriculum is specifically designed for this grade level. We try to work with Title I schools first and then expand out to other schools.

  • How much does it cost to attend STARBASE?

    • There is no cost to attend STARBASE Maxwell. Schools are responsible for providing transportation and making sure students and staff have a sack lunch for their visit.

  • How many days do students attend STARBASE Maxwell?

    • During the school year program, students attend for five consecutive days from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. During the summer camps, students attend for a five day camp, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

  • How many students may attend in a classroom?

    • Size must be between 20 and 35 students during the school year. However, here at STARBASE Maxwell, we can accommodate up to a max number of 30 students. We can accommodate four classes a day. During COVID we do go by CDC guidelines that is continually updated.

  • I am a teacher or school administer and am interested in my school attending STARBASE Maxwell, what do I need to do?

    • Know your fifth grade student count

    • Please be aware that due to our capacity, we may need to alter the schools that attend each year. This allows students from all districts to be able to attend.

  • My child is attending STARBASE Maxwell. Can I come along as a chaperone with their school?

    • Parents are not allowed to chaperone a visit to STARBASE Maxwell with their child. The school is responsible for sending school staff with their students.

  • Does STARBASE Maxwell do one day tours or programs?

    • Our program is designed for our 25-hour/five day program. Due to this design, it is rare that we have the opportunity to provide one day programs.

  • Does STARBASE Maxwell have a place to get food if my child forgets their lunch?

    • No. Parents and schools are responsible for making sure students have a sack lunch each day of the program. Lunches should not need heating. Students should bring a refillable water bottle.

  • Can I sign my child up individually for a program?

    • You may sign your child up individually for programs during the summer. The school year is reserved for school organizations. Remember to check out our summer program page for more details on camps we are offering.
